The Ultimate Checklist
Today’s busy brides need to be organized! Here is the ultimate “To Do” List. Feel free to change the time lines and make adjustments to fit your own particular needs.

12-18 months before the wedding

  • Select a wedding date and time
  • Determine the style (formal or informal)
  • Set a tentative budget
  • Designate the Wedding Party
  • Choose location for the ceremony
  • Select a ceremony officiant
  • Choose reception location
  • Begin compiling guest list
  • Attend local bridal shows

9-12 months before the wedding

  • Confirm facilities with deposit
  • Confirm officiant with deposit
  • Decide on a color scheme
  • Order bridal attire
  • Select photographer
  • Select videographer
  • Select music provider(s) – DJ and Live
  • Select florist / decorator
  • Select caterer or menu
  • Compile guest names & addresses

6-9 months before the wedding

  • Order & mail Save-the-Date cards
  • Order bridesmaid & mother attire.
  • Confirm photographer & videographer
  • Confirm music & entertainment by deposit
  • Confirm florist with deposit
  • Confirm caterer and/or menu choices
  • Schedule Engagement photograph

4-6 months before the wedding

  • Select & order wedding invitations
  • Select & order wedding cake
  • Select & order wedding bands
  • Arrange for rental equipment
  • Make travel / honeymoon plans
  • Order all remaining bridal accessories

2-3 months before the wedding

  • Mail out invitations
  • Order groom/groomsmen attire (pg 74)
  • Meet with photographer / videographer
  • Select ceremony & reception music
  • Select & order accessories
  • Schedule final fittings for attendants
  • Schedule hair & nail appointments
  • Arrange guest accommodations (pg 33)
  • Apply for travel passport (pg 62)
  • Plan rehearsal dinner & attendant’s parties

1-2 months before the wedding

  • Apply for Marriage License (pg 60-61)
  • Complete final fittings for bride & groom
  • Complete final fittings for attendants
  • Finalize Ceremony & Reception details
  • Meet with DJ and/or musicians
  • Purchase Wedding Party gifts
  • Finalize all travel arrangements
  • Finalize all hotel reservations
  • Purchase honeymoon attire
  • Confirm rental equipment reservations
  • Purchase party supplies / guest favors
  • Order Announcements (for non-guests)
  • Develop Wedding Day Schedule

2-3 weeks before the wedding

  • Confirm final catering count
  • Meet with all hired professionals
  • Put Marriage License w/ ceremony items
  • Pick up travel ticket, money & passports
  • Pick up wedding rings & check fit
  • Prepare Bride’s Wedding Day Kit
  • Address Announcements for mailing

1 week before the wedding

  • Be sure you have the Marriage License
  • Schedule one-on-one time with family
  • Complete moving to 1 household
  • Pack suitcases for honeymoon
  • Re-confirm travel reservations
  • Pick up wedding attire & check fit
  • Attend rehearsal dinner or luncheon
  • Pay balances due to all hired staff
  • RELAX, eat well and get plenty of sleep

On Your Wedding Day . . .

  • Eat a good breakfast or lunch
  • Be sure you have rings and license
  • Pack water & mints for dressing room
  • Start dressing at least 2-4 hours before
  • Give Mom Announcements to mail
  • Relax & enjoy yourself. You’ve earned it!

4-6 weeks After the Wedding

  • Mail out thank you cards
  • Change legal names – Driver’s license, Social Security, banking, etc. pg 62
  • Pick up Photographs and Video
  • Have Bridal Gown professionally cleaned and prepared for storage
